Lochee dumped out of East of Scotland

-

Lochee United appear to be struggling to shake off their Scottish Cup defeat to Auchinleck Talbot as they went out of the East of Scotland Cup to Linlithgow Rose.

However, they aren’t the first and won’t be the last to be undone by record Linlithgow goalscorer Tommy Coyne.

Coyne scored three of Rose’s goals, two from the penalty spot, as they won 4-2.

Linlithgow went in front on 12 minutes from the first of Coyne’s penalties and the second on 38 minutes also saw Stephen McNally sent off.

Grant Lawson pulled a goal back on 54 minutes but four minutes later Coyne completed his hat-trick.

United fought back and Dougie Cameron pulled a second goal back from the spot on 62 minutes.

Linlithgow scored a fourth, effectively putting the game to bed, with 20 minutes to go through Ruari Maclennan
