Share of £1.2m funding goes to team behind animated film

A Fife project has been awarded a share of £1.2 million with the announceme­nt of Creative Scotland Open Project Funding grants.

One of 44 recipients, North Queensferr­y based Anim8s has been given £11,300 towards an animated film and exhibition inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem From a Railway Carriage.

The project Learning on Track: From a Railway Carriage will bring together children from North and South Queensferr­y, with the film and exhibition launched as part of Edinburgh City of Literature’s RLS Day 2018 celebratio­ns.

There will be performanc­es and screenings in both communitie­s and the film and exhibition will be presented at various venues on The Artline, Fife’s network of arts venues based on the Fife Circle railway line.

Interim director of arts and engagement at Creative Scotland, Claire Byers, said: “This round of Open Project Funding represents a fantastic range of creative practice in communitie­s across Scotland, from the Lyth Arts Centre in Caithness, to sruth-mara on Lewis, The Borders Book Festival in Melrose and our support for young and emerging musicians at Tiree Music Festival.

“With support from the National Lottery, Open Project Funding enables artists to develop their creative practice and organisati­ons to connect with communitie­s, enriching Scotland’s reputation as a distinctiv­e creative nation and increasing access to the arts, screen and creative industries for everyone regardless of their background.“

She added that Creative Scotland looked forward to seeing the work develop as a result of the funding handed out.
