Group aims to brighten village

-

A Kelty group is painting the village in a myriad of colours.

After the success of its mural work in the Blackhall Square regeneration project, Kelty Art and Regeneration Trust was approached by members of the community and business owners to carry on with its street art projects in other areas of the village.

A committee was formed and members have been working hard behind the scenes, securing funding and fundraising.

It will now be hosting its first Kelty Creatives Day in the Community Centre from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, May 13.

This is a free fun event with the main purpose being to raise awareness of the next phase of its street art projects, revitalising the Main Street.

On display will be the before and after pictures of its proposed art work.

There will also be free face painting, art workshops, community art projects, exhibitions, dance and martial art displays, musical entertainment and films from Kelty Community Cinema.

It is also crowdfunding at www.youcaring.com/keltyartandregenerationtrust-1092843

A spokeswoman said: “We appreciate all these donations and the support we have received from the whole community.

“We have had fantastic support from the people of Kelty, and this event will be an opportunity for us to show our thanks and for our community to come together.”
