Simmentals lined up for Turriff Show
The Scottish National Simmental Cattle Show is to take place at this year’s Turriff Show in August.
The two-day event on August 5-6 will also play host to a range of new attractions including a gin and prosecco bar, pageant parade and showjumping relay.
A number of judges have already been announced for the event including Ronald Black from Newton of Collessie Farm, Fife, for the prestigious champion of champions award.
Other judges include Archie MacGregor from Allanfauld, Kilsyth, for the overall cattle interbreed championship, and David Brown from United Auctions in Stirling will judge the beef groups, pairs and young bull interbreed.
The overall sheep championship will be judged by Allan Wight from Crawford, Biggar.
Turriff Show senior vicepresident John Sleigh said: “We are very lucky to have some great prize money available at our show and we strongly encourage people to come along and get involved.
“Whether you are a regular livestock exhibitor or a firsttime exhibitor in the industrial tent, Turriff Show will be delighted to accommodate you.”
Meanwhile, a new development committee has been formed for the show after it was awarded funding from the Tesco Bags for Help appeal and Aberdeenshire Council to help it develop the event.
