A 17-year-old male has been charged following a fatal crash outside a Dundee nightclub in the early hours of Monday.

The teenager, who has since been released from custody, has been charged with “various road traffic offences”, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

The crash victim has been named as 33-year-old Scott Millar. He died in Ninewells Hospital after being taken there with serious head injuries following the incident.

The family said they were too upset to speak about their loss yesterday.

The incident happened on Argyllgait, between the Westport Roundabout and North Lindsay Street, at around 1.30am.

Mr Millar worked for Royal Mail in Dundee’s Central Delivery Office for 14 years and the service paid tribute to him yesterday.

A spokeswoman said: “We can confirm Scott Millar was one of our employees.

“We are all very saddened at his death. Scott worked for us for 14 years in the Dundee Central delivery office.

“He had a young family and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.”

Friends of Mr Millar took to social media to post their tributes as well.

Scott Roberts described him as “one of life’s good guys” and Angela Fleming said he was a “great dad” who “lived for his kids”.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that the 17-year-old man arrested after a road traffic collision in Argyllgait has been charged with a number of road traffic offences and has been released from custody to be reported to the procurator fiscal. “Inquiries are continuing.” The spokeswoman added that the teenager would not appear in court “for some time”.

James Cosgrove, a doorman at Club Tropicana who was nearby when the incident happened, previously told The Courier how he heard a loud bang and ran to the scene to see Mr Millar “covered in blood”.

He said: “I’m devastated to hear he has died. Although he was badly hurt I thought there was a chance he might pull through.”

James added that the area was particularly busy due to Dundee Dance Event, which took place over the weekend.
