The water clarity has improved at RESCOBIE

LOCH and it has been described as ‘gin clear’.

All areas are fishing well, especially Doc Millar’s and Roadside.

Popular flies have been black and green vivas, ace of spades, buzzers, cormorants and nymphs.

Wiremill AC from Musselburgh visited with 16 rods and took 38 rainbows for 103lb and one brownie at 4lb 4oz.

Discovery AC also had a good day on Saturday with six rods taking 20 for 57lb 3oz and returning 11. Also returned was a surprise 15lb pike.

Lots of members have been returning a full four-fish bag over the last couple of weeks.

The heaviest recently was Frank Keith, 14lb 8oz; Bob Buick, 14lb; Ian Barlow, 12lb 4oz, D Robertson, Eric Sellars and Charlie Thornton, 12lb.

F Keith has the largest fish of the month so far, a rainbow at 5lb 12oz taken off the Greenbank on a DI3 line with a Dennis the Menace fly.

MONIKIE anglers are getting some good sport now as water temperatures rise.

It was another cold morning as competitors arrived at LAKE OF MENTEITH for heat five of the National. There were 57 competitors and between them they caught 315 fish for 693lb 9.3oz, including three fish capped at 4lb and the heaviest at 5lb 14oz.

Top rod was John Simpson of Caley Liners with 21 trout for 40lb 12.8oz. John spent his day at Lochend where he was fishing a candy booby and diawl bachs on a midge tip line.

Lintrathen FF’s Tyler Hay was second with 19 trout for 38lb 2.4oz. He took his fish in Hotel Bay and International Bay where he was using diawl bachs, buzzers and a booby on a midge tip.

Alan Gilbert of SPRA FFS West was third with 13 trout for 29lb 5.9oz, caught with buzzers and a booby fished on a floater at Gateside Bay and the Malling Shore.
