Controversial housing plans divide residents of Aberdour
Hillside School has launched another attempt to build homes at its Aberdour site.
After a previous proposal was rejected by Fife Council, the school’s owners have lodged a proposal of application notice for another housing development.
The owners are seeking permission to build 125 homes, which they said would fund the replacement of the old building with a fit-for-purpose facility.
Previous plans drew around 460 letters of objection and the council rejected the scheme after the applicants failed to submit information on sensitive wildlife areas.
The council has stressed that another controversial Aberdour housing proposal has not been recommended for approval despite publicly available documents suggesting otherwise.
Cala Homes has applied for permission in principle to build 85 new houses at a field next to Morayvale.
The plans are unpopular with locals and have drawn more than 850 letters of objection.
Last month, an email sent by HolderPlanning to the council contained a memo of a conference call during which the agents said it had been confirmed that a recommendation to approve had been “signed off”.
But council planning boss Robin Presswood has denied the suggestion, adding: “The authority is assessing all aspects of the proposed development, and given that this is a complex application this will take some time.
“All of the representations received will be taken into consideration in a report to the area planning committee, and it is anticipated that it will be the summer before this application is considered by members.”
