Gowfers edge towards safety

A goal in each half earned Carnoustie three points at Lochee United to edge them further away from the Super League drop zone.

Ryan Dignan put the Gowfers ahead on 27 minutes and Adam Harwood sealed victory 14 minutes from time.

Four-goal Rhys Davis was Forfar West End’s nemesis as Jeanfield Swifts hit the visitors for six without reply.

Chris Scott and Tony Holt were the others on target, the latter scoring a first half penalty which saw West End reduced to 10 men.

Second half goals from Lee Reid and Daniel Watt earned Hill of Beath a 2-0 win away to Kennoway Star.

Bottom-of-the-table Kirrie Thistle defeated Glenrothes 3-2 with Gary Fairweathe­r a hat-trick hero for the hosts. Glens’ goals were scored by Lee Celentano and Sean Simpson.

Kirrie’s Sean McVicar and Jamie Leslie of Glenrothes were sent off near the end.

Luncarty maintained their North League promotion push with a 4-0 win at Newburgh.

Keiran Donald gave the Bleachers the lead, but Calum Connelly then missed a penalty for the home side.

Newburgh were reduced to 10 men and the visitors capitalise­d with further goals from Richard Doig, Drew Fleming and Calum Kirkcaldy.

Champions North End were held to a goalless draw at East Craigie who extended their unbeaten run to 12 games.

Blairgowri­e won 2-0 at Forfar Albion with goals from Matt Adam and Gary Axworthy.
