New, free tourism toolkit launch will help Fife’s event organisers
A “tourism toolkit” has been launched in Fife.
Fife Council and Fife Tourism Partnership has prepared the free package for event and festival organisers.
The kingdom hosts a diverse programme of annual events, from community fairs and galas, to high profile international sporting occasions.
The gatherings bring £18 million and more than 200,000 people to Fife every year.
The quick reference guide has been designed to provide knowledge and guidance on how to put on a successful event.
It will direct organisers to useful resources to help with a range of topics, including health and safety, licensing and promotion.
New guidelines on funding advice are also being made available and a dedicated Fife Events group has been established to encourage closer collaborative working.
It is hoped the work will allow organisations to build on a highly successful year for tourism in 2017, when more than eight million visitors were welcomed to the region.
Tourism is worth around £570 million to the Fife economy and supports 11,000 jobs with expenditure increasing annually by 4% over the last nine years.
Unveiling the new resources, Fife Tourism Partnership manager Ann Camus said: “Fife hosts many national and international events each year, with plenty of local opportunities which are equally important. It’s essential organisers have access to the right tools.”
Labour Councillor Ian Cameron added: “Fife Council recognise the vital impact that events have on local communities.”
