-

Organisers of Fife Pride 2018 are on the hunt for performers to entertain the crowds.

The festival, celebrating Fife’s LGBTI community and allies, returns for a second time on July 7 in Kirkcaldy town centre.

Organisers are looking for the kingdom’s young drag kings, queens and musical acts to step forward.

With support from Fife Council, Fife Cultural Trust and LGBTI charity Pink Saltire, it aims to maintain the fun and family friendly atmosphere created in 2017.

Last year, a crowd of 300 was expected but an estimated 3,000 visitors arrived.

Co-convener Fiona MacKenzie said: “We remain grateful to the many local groups, performers, businesses and most importantly, the visitors who came along to celebrate.”

Following a parade, the event will continue in the town square into the evening, with a selection of music acts and entertainment taking to the stage, fringed by a market place.

There will be a youth zone at the Adam Smith Theatre, where young people can participate in a selection of activities in a safe environment.

Organisers are now looking for young people who may be interested in performing at the event.

Linsey Neilson, community education worker at Fife Council, said: “We’re looking for singer/ songwriters or performers in any field to get in touch to see how we can work together.

“We’re also hoping to organise a family-friendly drag show.”

Those wishing to get involved can email info@fifepride.com

There will be a drop-in day for volunteers at New Volunteer House in Kirkcaldy from 10am to noon on Saturday June 2.
