Regulars add to haul at Islamouth

On the lower River Tay Stobhall and Taymount had five salmon between them last week.

Islamouth had six, with regulars Neil Tong, Ian Mitchell, Mick Miller and Martin Ferrie contributi­ng to the catch.

Upstream Upper Islamouth and Meikleour had a busy week, where Charlie Penny had two up to 15lb.

David Tonks caught one at 6lb from the March pool and Stephen Bolton caught a 7lb fish from the House pool in the boat.

On the middle river Kercock had one for the week, with German fly fisher Silja Longhurst hosting a party through the Salmon Fishing Surgery company.

At Delvine and Burnbane Jim MacFarlane caught a couple up to 8lb on the fly and spinner.

The Murthly beats had six between then up to 20lb but should see better sport in the weeks to come with a lower, more settled river.

Newtyle caught two in the week with Jonny Lloyd and Jon Amos both landing fish on the fly from the Cotter.

Dalguise caught a single fish weighing 16lb.

The upper area featured last week as fish moved up the system. Three fish were recorded on the Upper Farleyer beat.

Ian Griffin had a good week’s fly fishing on the upper river, landing three spring salmon, including a 13lb fish from the Chinese pool just below Kenmore on a Willie Gunn.

Loch Tay is also seeing sport with Fish n’ Trips recording one fish last week.

The Tummel reported five last week from the Pitlochry Angling Club stretch at Portnacrai­g up to an impressive 20lb.

The week got off to a flyer with Davie Stewart landing a 20lb fish from the Pitlochry bank on the fly.

James Lapsley caught a 14lb fish on a spinner on Monday and later in the week Maya Pandya caught her first Tummel salmon weighing eight pounds, having lost one the previous day.
