Don’t be slow in backing Jacbequick

RACING: O’Meara’s charge can break run of near misses with victory at Beverley

- The Ferret

JACBEQUICK has been knocking on the door this season and can earn himself a deserved return to the winner’s enclosure at Beverley.

David O’Meara’s charge has done a lot of his racing at the East Yorkshire circuit, with 21 previous course visits yielding five victories, five seconds and a third.

He kicked off 2018 on the all-weather at Southwell on New Year’s Day, finishing a well-beaten fourth, but has since filled the runner-up spot twice at Beverley, most recently going down by just a neck to Detachment.

The handicapper has left Jacbequick on a mark of 79, 3lb lower than when striking gold at York last July, and he will certainly not be winning out of turn should he come home in front in the Westwood Handicap.

DEEP INTRIGUE can reward those who keep the faith in the first division of the Racing UK Now In HD Novice Stakes.

The son of Dark Angel offered plenty of hope for the future when third behind the exciting Izzer on his racecourse debut in a Bath conditions race in March and it was no surprise to see him sent off at prohibitive odds on his second start at Musselburgh earlier this month.

While odds-on backers had their fingers burned, Deep Intrigue perhaps ran into another smart filly in newcomer Nicki’s Angel and Mark Johnston’s inmate is expected to make it third time lucky. SELECTIONS:
