Concert for Roxburghe House

-

A Dundee doctor will turn his hand from the laboratory to the orchestra, all in the name of charity.

Professor Andrew Evans will lead Dundee Chamber Orchestra through its paces on Saturday as it raises funds for Roxburghe House.

Prof Evans, who is an honorary consultant at Ninewells Hospital and a lecturer in breast imaging at Dundee University Medical School, will conduct the orchestra through well-known renditions of classical music, as well as compositions of his own.

He said: “The work undertaken at Roxburghe House provides great support to many people.

“Previously we have raised funds for PATCH and Alzheimer Scotland and this time we are delighted to be raising funds for such a worthy cause in Dundee.”

He continued: “I formed the orchestra three years ago and we have a lot of talented musicians, with some travelling from as far afield as Edinburgh to play.

“St Paul’s is a fantastic venue to perform in and we are incredibly lucky that they allow us to rehearse and play there free of charge. We are excited to show the public our repertoire and we all hope that as many people as possible can turn out to help us raise money for Roxburghe House.”

The concert will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral, Dundee High Street, on Saturday at 7.30pm.
