Man had images of child abuse

-

A Rosyth man caught with child abuse images at his home has been placed on the sex offenders register for three years.

Scott Neil appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing on Wednesday after previously admitting three charges against him.

The 42-year-old, of Ridley Drive in Rosyth, admitted being in possession of indecent photographs between December 2013 and June 2017.

He also admitted taking or permitting child abuse images to be taken at his home over the same time period.

Police officers also discovered he was growing a quantity of cannabis at his home on June 20.

Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist handed Neil a three-year supervision order, which includes a number of conditions, and warned him that any breaches would see him brought back to court.

The sex offender must only stay at an approved address and must not have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.

He must also make any electrical devices which are capable of storing images available for inspection.

Neil must attend group work to try to remedy his sex offending behaviour. He was also ordered to perform 250 hours of unpaid work.

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist told the court her client had cut down on his cannabis use and did not have regular contact with children under the age of 16.
