Taking your vows

The Scottish VOWS Awards is a big day for the businesses that make sure the happy couple enjoy their own big day

-

The Scottish VOWS Awards allow customers to vote for the businesses that made their big days special.

Your wedding is one of the most important and memorable days of your life and The Scottish VOWS Awards provides an opportunity for customers to talk about the people and businesses that made the experience special.

Now in its 14th year, the VOWS is a prestigious awards event that aims to find the cream of the crop when it comes to celebrating and promoting excellence in the Scottish wedding industry.

The industry thrives on good reputation, trust and, above all, the ability to meet and exceed the expectations of the people involved in planning for the event.

Businesses that provide a superior standard of customer service deserve to be recognised and VOWS stands for: Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier. What makes the awards unique is that the suppliers are nominated by their customers.

Mandy Breen won the wedding hairdresser category at last year’s awards, having been highly commended in 2016. Her Dundee-based business, Hair Ups, is four years old and she specialises in wedding hair design as well as hair-ups for other events.

She explains: “Even to be nominated by your brides because they valued the standard of your work is such an honour. For the VOWS to recognise people for that, it does make them unique.

“Because I am now attached to the VOWS as a winner, my business is more credible and trustworthy and I find I am getting clients from further afield.”

Wedding transport specialists Chauffeurs of Carnoustie has won a series of VOWS awards and is now a brand ambassador, with owners Pauline and Duncan Martin sitting on the judging panel.

Pauline says: “It is an honour and a privilege to be involved in such a prestigious event.

“In Scotland we are so passionate about weddings and a lot of hard work goes into every aspect. We need to show that off – and it’s the customers who can get us there.”

Weddings between June 1 2017 and August 1 2018 are eligible to be nominated, with the closing date being noon on Friday August 17 2018.

Only one vote per wedding is permitted and up to four suppliers can be nominated. A short testimonial should be provided for each company and suppliers should be ranked in order of preference.

Suppliers and businesses that have been nominated in previous years will already appear on the VOWS website for the 2018 awards voting. Businesses not yet registered as a supplier can contact info@vowsawards.co.uk to be set up.

The shortlist will be announced in September and, if shortlisted, suppliers will be asked to complete a business review form. The winners will be revealed on November 19 at a ceremony in Glasgow’s DoubleTree by Hilton.
