Southern rocker Dan Baird returns to the Green Hotel this weekend.

The former Georgia Satellites frontman is in Kinross on Sunday with his band Homemade Sin following a superb debut appearance at the venue last June.

Baird was forced to cancel tour dates after that due to leukaemia-related complications but thankfully he’s back to health and is touring the UK. Atlanta-based Georgia Satellites’ single Keep Your Hands To Yourself and their eponymous debut album both reached number two in the USA in 1987 before the ferocious Battleship Chains charted over here.

Baird’s solo debut Love Songs For The Hearing Impaired appeared on Def American in 1992. Two further albums and a stint in roots rock supergroup The Yahoos followed before 2005’s first Homemade Sin set Feels So Good.

The four-piece also includes ex-Jason & The Scorchers guitarist Warner Hodges and Satellites drummer Mauro Magellan. Tickets for Sunday’s 8pm gig are £20 from www.mundellmusic.com

Scottish indie favourites The Dykeenies are at Church tomorrow night.

The Cumbernauld fourpiece formed in 2005 and released two albums, 2007’s Nothing Means Everything and Canyon Of Echoes (2011), before splitting up in 2012.

Brothers Brian and Andrew Henderson, Steven Ramsay and John Kerr regrouped for shows last May and they’ve just dropped a comeback EP, I Wanted To Show Her All The Beautiful Things In The World.

Tickets for the Ward Road gig are £16.50 from www. gigsinscotland.com

Others involved include Concrete Boots, Dante, Tragical History Tour, John Wheels, Olivia Watson, Mike Lee, Blair Davies, CX3, Alyson Bell, Amy Lou and Dragon.

Admission and raffle proceeds and a cut of the bar takings from the Canal Street event are going to the charities. Art student KayaLana Fraser’s new short film showing local musicians talking about mental health issues is also being screened.

The music’s on from 2pm to 11pm.

The band’s latest tour is to promote their Friend Or Faux album, with the Perth show starting at 9pm.

Four of Scotland’s fastrising female-led bands are playing Perth tomorrow.
