MCCOLGAN INSIDE MARK Eilish McColgan (Dundee Hawkhill) and Scottish colleague Steph Twell (Aldershot FD) were both were well inside the 15.30 standard being asked by British Athletics for the forthcomin­g European Championsh­ips in Berlin. Both competed at the Tijdschema Athletics in Nijmegen, Netherland­s, McColgan finishing second in 15:17.01 and Twell fourth in 15:18.77 in a race won by Welsh athlete Melissa Courtney (15:16.51). l Course record holder and 2013 winner Roger van Gompel (Dundee Hawkhill) returned to Comrie to win the Strathearn Marathon in a time of 2 hours 52 minutes 12 seconds. The women’s race was won by Jillian Gordon (Kinross RRR), who was 17th overall in 3.18.30. Dyer won the Division one 800m in 1:56.09 while Dylan Thomson won the pole vault clearing 4.40m. Arbroath and District’s top results in Division 2 all came in the field events. Chris Smith won the shot with 10.89m, Rene Rogers the discus with a throw of 35.86m and Glen Laskiewicz the high jump in 1.65m.
