MCCOLGAN INSIDE MARK Eilish McColgan (Dundee Hawkhill) and Scottish colleague Steph Twell (Aldershot FD) were both were well inside the 15.30 standard being asked by British Athletics for the forthcoming European Championships in Berlin. Both competed at the Tijdschema Athletics in Nijmegen, Netherlands, McColgan finishing second in 15:17.01 and Twell fourth in 15:18.77 in a race won by Welsh athlete Melissa Courtney (15:16.51). l Course record holder and 2013 winner Roger van Gompel (Dundee Hawkhill) returned to Comrie to win the Strathearn Marathon in a time of 2 hours 52 minutes 12 seconds. The women’s race was won by Jillian Gordon (Kinross RRR), who was 17th overall in 3.18.30. Dyer won the Division one 800m in 1:56.09 while Dylan Thomson won the pole vault clearing 4.40m. Arbroath and District’s top results in Division 2 all came in the field events. Chris Smith won the shot with 10.89m, Rene Rogers the discus with a throw of 35.86m and Glen Laskiewicz the high jump in 1.65m.
