Cash boost for community centre

-

A Fife community centre that provides a range of activities and holiday clubs for young people has received a cash boost.

Rio Community Centre has been awarded funding from property management company Ross & Liddell’s annual community bursary scheme.

The centre provides an invaluable space for toddler groups, sports clubs and computer groups, as well as hosting holiday clubs three times a week in the summer.

The funding will cover the costs of a new children’s computer games workshop to be introduced as part of the holiday schedule. Betty Martin, voluntary chairperson, said: “The Rio Community Centre fulfils a need in the community for youth activities, to allow young people to meet up and spend time with their friends.”

The centre plans to expand the range of activities on offer and introduce a family night.
