Walking festival will be fun for all

-

Kirkcaldy’s first ever Walking Festival will take place in the town this summer.

Running from July 14 to 22, the event promises a range of fun and interesting walks over the course of nine days.

The festival, which is being co-ordinated by Greener Kirkcaldy, aims to get people out walking in their local community, bringing people together to appreciate different aspects of the town, such as its nature and history.

It will feature a variety of walks, some of which are suitable for pushchairs, and some of which are tailored for children or families.

With 12 walks on offer throughout the nine-day event, festival co-ordinator Susan Jeynes said the festival will provide a wide choice of walks for all ages and abilities - from exploring rockpools and scavenger hunts to tots’ bingo.

“I’d been on some really interesting and enjoyable organised walks in Kinghorn, Burntisland and Aberdour, and thought it would be great to do something similar in Kirkcaldy,” she said.

“The walks are being run by a number of local groups and organisations.

“The idea is that anyone can take part, no matter what your age or fitness level is.

“We hope that there will be something to appeal to everyone.”

All walks will be free to take part in throughout the festival, and anyone wanting further information can visit www.
