MERCAT MINES THE PAST

Fife Mining Heritage Society and Kirkcaldy Civic Society have teamed up with Kirkcaldy Art Club to exhibit in the Kirkcaldy Mercat Centre Community Space this week through to Sunday.

The exhibition on the heritage and history of Kirkcaldy and mining in Fife has become a regular fixture in the Mercat in recent years and has attracted a a great deal of interest from people of all ages. The exhibition is free and runs each day from 10am to 4pm. AUCHTERMUC­HTY The annual general meeting of Auchtermuc­hty Community Centre will be held tonight at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.

This is an extra-special AGM because it is the last that Nettie Campbell will be overseeing, as she is retiring after nine years as chairperso­n and 20 years on the committee. All are welcome to attend and show their appreciati­on for all of her hard work. FLORAL ART DISPLAY Cupar Floral Art Club is to hold a demonstrat­ion by Audrey Buchan at the Corn Exchange tomorrow. Doors open for the All Washed Up display at 7pm. MUSIC GROUP A meeting of the Button-Key Accordion and Fiddle Club will be held in the Windygates Institute tomorrow at 7pm. The guest artist is the Raith Probus Band. All are welcome. BOTANIC LECTURE The Friends of St Andrews Botanic Garden recently held its annual joint lecture with the Botanical Society of Scotland.

Professor Toby Pennington from the University of Exeter gave a talk on the forgotten forests of Latin America. MEN’S SHED An open meeting to discuss the establishm­ent of a Kirkcaldy’s Men’s Shed will run from 10am to noon tomorrow in Templehall Community Centre. All are welcome and organisers hope to recruit new members – both men and women – and take suggestion­s for the format the shed should take. PRIZEGIVIN­G Tulliallan and Kincardine Parish Church’s Young Church will hold its prizegivin­g at 11am on Sunday.
