Fife Pride secures Pop Idol star

-

Organisers of this year’s Fife Pride have confirmed former Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus as the first headline act for this summer’s festival.

The event, which had its first outing in Kirkcaldy last year, will once again take place in the town on July 7.

The team behind the gathering say they have a fantastic array of local musical and performance talent lined up, including popular tribute act ABBA Gold.

Co-conveners Neale Hanvey and Fiona Mackenzie took over the leadership of the event in mid-April and both are excited about what’s to come.

Neale said: “We are determined to ensure Fife has a Pride event fitting of the name.

“We have all been working incredibly hard to ensure we deliver on that ambition, so it is fantastic to be able to make our first line up announcement this week.

“We’re delighted that Pride is developing as a tremendous showcase event for all of our local acts.”

Fiona added: “We are all working very hard behind the scenes with our partner organisations to make this year’s events even better than the outstanding event last year.

“We hope to announce further acts next week in advance of the big day, so watch this space.”

This year’s event, which is supported by Fife Council, the National Lottery Fund and Shell UK, will again be hosted by the inimitable Nancy Clench.
