Lottery award for skatepark

-

A project for a new skatepark in Oakley has been given a £10,000 boost from National Lottery Awards for All.

The award means Oakley Sk8park Group can put the wheels in motion for a new and improved facility.

Young people in Oakley have been involved in the design of the project, which has brought the entire community together to fundraise for the new facility.

The Fife project is one of 51 groups across the country to receive grants of between £300 and £10,000.

A National Lottery Awards for All spokesperson said: “No matter how big or small the award, there is something for everyone in this latest round of National Lottery grants.

“Each group will use its funding to bring people together to share new skills, make friends and to become more connected to services and activities in their local area.

“We look forward to seeing the impact of this funding over the coming months.”

Picking up an award of £10,000 is Getting Better Together which will set up a new men’s shed in the Springhill area of Shotts.

Aimed at tackling isolation and loneliness, the project will bring together men from all walks of life to chat, share skills and get involved in workshop projects.
