Police in Fife have seized a haul of class A drugs worth more than £180,000.

Detectives from the proactive CID unit carried out an intelligence-led search at an address on Aberdour Road in Burntisland on Wednesday.

A second raid took place at another property at Kiln Wynd in Kirkcaldy the following day.

A six-figure sum of heroin was recovered and six people were arrested and charged in connection with the seizures.

Teri Docherty, 30, Nicola Faulds, 32, Ian Handyside, 36, Steven MacDonald, 43, and Scott Porter, 33, all of Kirkcaldy, have been charged with possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply.

Mark Sellar, 48, of Burntisland, faces two charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

None of the accused made any plea or declaration on Thursday at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

The case was fully committed for examination and all six individuals were released on bail.

Detective Inspector Lynne McQuade from Fife Division’s CID said: “Thanks to vital intelligence received from the public, a significant quantity of Class A drugs have been seized before they could cause harm within the local communities.

“Tackling organised crime, which includes drug offences, remains at the top of our priorities. Under Operation Prospect, work is ongoing throughout Fife every day to target such criminality.

“We’d encourage anyone with concerns or information about drug crime to contact us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible. All reports will be thoroughly investigated and further action taken, wherever appropriate.”

The latest bust comes just weeks after Police Scotland revealed more than £360,000 worth of drugs had been recovered from the Kirkcaldy area alone since December.

Heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis have all been pulled off the streets by officers involved in a series of raids.

Almost 70% of the drugs were found in the north part of the town – where £253,342 of drugs was seized.

The area was also home to the two largest busts which saw £101,200 of cocaine and cannabis recovered in April and £150,312 of ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis found in May.

Information on drug crime can be reported to Police Scotland on 101, or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
