TALENT CONTEST The fifth heat of this year’s Fife United Inter Clubs Association talent contest took place in the Gunner Club, Kirkcaldy, on Sunday, attracting another good turn-out.
Participating clubs were Kinglassie Institute, Valleyfield Club, Bowhill Hotel, Rosyth, and the hosts, the Gunner Club.
This week’s winners were Kinglassie Institute whose singers were Brian Stevens and Nancy Smith. 7
The next heat will be held in Valleyfield Club on Sunday July 22 at 2pm.
Meanwhile, this year’s Children’s Fun Day Out will be held on Wednesday August 1 at Craigtoun Park and children’s names should be forwarded to committee members.
FOLK CLUB Dunfermline Folk Club is hosting a session from 8pm today in the Glen Tavern, Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline.
COFFEE MORNING The St Andrews fundraising branch of the RNLI will hold its annual coffee morning from 10am on Saturday in the supper room of St Andrews Town Hall. There will be stalls, a raffle and RNLI souvenirs.
DYSART TRUST The Dysart Trust’s summer exhibition is open on Sunday, from 2-4pm, in Dysart Town Hall.
There will be a fascinating selection of photographs and artefacts the Dysart of days gone by. There will also be a sales table with Dysart memorabilia including local glass bottles, greeting cards and books.
Displays marking long-gone industries such as mining, engineering, carpet and linen making and golf club manufacture are also included.
The unique hand-stitched Dysart wall hanging is also on show.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
RETIRING OFFERING Tulliallan and Kincardine Church’s retiring offering on Communion Sunday raised more than £193 which will go towards work in Africa.
LENDING LIBRARY Townhill’s Community Book lending service is thriving. With large print and talking books now available, the library has seen footfall improve since the village’s community council took it over from Fife Cultural Trust.
