McCann still aims to add to squad

Dark Blues manager hoping for ‘one or two more’

- NEIL ROBERTSON

Dundee boss Neil McCann has revealed that his summer signing spree is not over despite already having five new players on the books at Dens.

Senegalese striker Jean Alassane Mendy was snapped up at the start of this week on a two-year deal and has already been working hard in preseason training with the other new boys Jack Hamilton, Nathan Ralph, Kharl Madianga and Elton Ngwatala.

And McCann admitted there could be further signings in the pipeline.

The manager said: “I hope to get one or two more in and we’ve always got targets.

“This year we are a bit more advanced than we were this time last year and that’s good because I wanted to get a bit of business done immediately.”

“Now you go for ones who can probably be a wee bit more troublesome to get in,” added McCann, “but we are working hard on that and as the preseason goes on maybe we’ll get a bit more business done.”

Craig Wighton and Glen Kamara, who were on international duty earlier this summer for the Scotland Under21s and the full Finland side respectively, were given extra time off but were expected to return to training along with Steven Caulker who had also been absent due to a charity commitment.

Midfielder Paul McGowan has not been training with the squad as he is recovering from a hernia problem.
