A man who abducted two police officers before threatening to stab them with a broken TV aerial has been sentenced.

Adilson Hernandez previously admitted locking two constables inside a Buckhaven property on September 28

The 20-year-old, who has been on remand at HMYOI Polmont, was handed an 18-month supervision order at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

He was also ordered to complete 200 hours’ of unpaid work and given a restriction of liberty order.

The court was previously told how Hernandez abducted the two officers who had been responding to an unrelated call at the property.

He locked the door, hid the key and refused to let them out before grabbing a broken TV aerial and brandishing it towards the two PCs.

Solicitor Martin McGuire said: “He has found his period in custody quite difficult.

“He is keeping himself to himself and trying to get through this remand.”

He said Hernandez was apprehensive about a custodial sentence, which he accepted was an option for the court.

“It is clear from the narrative that alcohol has played a role in both incidents,” he said.

He added that his client feared he would receive a significant custodial sentence which would see him transferred to an adult prison after turning 21.

Sheriff James Williamson said: “My first instinct today was to send you into custody and to send you into custody for 16 months.

“If you breach the order I’m about to impose then that is precisely what will happen to you. “Do not be mistaken.” Hernandez was given an 18-month supervision order and told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

He was also given a restriction of liberty order and told to remain within his home between 8pm and 6am for the next four months.

Sentence for a second matter, in which he verbally abused two police officers, was deferred for four weeks.
