Fife couple to stand trial on charges of animal neglect

- SARAH VESTY

A Fife couple are to stand trial accused of causing unnecessary suffering to animals in their care.

Alistair Jackson and Susanne Iliffe, of Inchgall Avenue, Lochgelly, have pled not guilty to three charges of neglect by failing to seek vet treatment for two dogs, cats and rabbits.

The alleged offences took place between August and October last year at an address in Rosyth and at their home in Lochgelly.

The couple, who did not appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday, face trial later this year.

Defence solicitor Michelle Renton, acting for Jackson, 37, and on behalf of another agent for Iliffe, 35, told the court they were ready to proceed to trial.

The couple are charged with causing suffering to a dog between September 3 and October 3 at Kings Crescent in Rosyth.

The dog was said to be suffering from a poor body condition and health conditions.

A second charge alleges the couple failed to seek help for a second dog between August 23 and October 31 last year in Lochgelly.

A third charge accuses them of failing to provide a suitable environment for dogs, cats and rabbits between October 24 and October 31 at their home.

Sheriff Alastair Thornton ordered Jackson and Iliffe to appear in person for an intermediate diet on September 19.
