Police want to trace man in relation to incident in Crossford in May

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a robbery in Crossford.

It comes more than two months after a 76-year-old woman was targeted by a knife-wielding man outside her home on Lundin Road.

The woman was robbed shortly after 11pm on Friday May 4. She was forced back into her home and made to hand over items including jewellery and a number of cameras.

The locations in the images have not been released, for what the force described as operational reasons.

The man is around 5ft 8in and of medium build with short, light hair.

According to police, he spoke with a strong foreign accent, which could be eastern European, and he may drive a black Vauxhall Mokka.

He is believed to have links to Greenock and the Clackmannanshire area.

Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan from Dunfermline CID said: “We have made significant progress in our investigation and are now issuing CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“Anyone who recognises him is urged to contact either police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

The incident in Crossford happened just hours after a Kirkcaldy pensioner was robbed in his own home on Nicol Street.

Although the two incidents were similar, police said that they were not linked.

The 74-year-old man was approached outside a sheltered housing complex on Nicol Street on the afternoon of May 4.

Once inside the property he was assaulted and items were stolen.

The suspect was between 30 and 40, around 5ft 8in and wearing light clothing.

He was said to have spoken with a local accent.

The elderly victim had fallen on Kirkcaldy High Street near its junction with Nicol Street shortly before the incident.

Several people, including the suspect, were seen helping him to his feet.

Police said they were still appealing for information on the Kirkcaldy case as well.
