Bryce pens new short-term deal with Glasgow
Warriors re-sign ex-Scotland prop
Glasgow have re-signed former Scotland international Kevin Bryce from Edinburgh.
The prop made the switch along the M8 in 2016 but has returned to Scotstoun on a short-term deal ahead of the new Guinness PRO14 campaign.
The 29-year-old made 10 appearances for Warriors during his initial three-year spell with the club, with his form good enough to earn three Scotland caps.
He will focus on playing at hooker when he reports back for pre-season training.
Head coach Dave Rennie has also boosted his squad with the signing of flanker Thomas Gordon, while hooker James Malcolm has agreed a short-term deal.
Gordon has signed a year-long partnership contract and will split his time between the Warriors and Currie Chieftans.
The 21-year-old, originally from Rotorua in New Zealand, qualifies for Scotland through his grandparents and was in the Under-20s squad in 2017.
He trained extensively with the Warriors last season while also playing for Currie as they reached the BT Premiership finals.
Malcolm has agreed fresh-terms with the club on a short-term basis. The 23-year-old has played 25 times for the Warriors to date, scoring three tries in the process.
Warriors forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys said: “Tom is an exciting player and we were really impressed with his physicality and dynamism in training last year.
“He has huge potential and will continue to learn and develop in our environment.
“With Fraser Brown and George Turner away for this first pre-season block and Pat MacArthur retiring, James has come back in to add strength in depth to the hooker position.
“I always preferred Kev as a hooker and he has a chance with us now to see if he can reach the high standards he achieved a few years ago when he was playing international rugby.”
Meanwhile Australia international scrum-half Nick Frisby has joined the Warriors on a two-year deal ahead of the new season, subject to visa and medical.
The 25-year-old has played five times for the Wallabies and has spent the majority of his professional career playing for the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby.
Also capable of playing at fly-half, Frisby spent four months of last season in the Top 14 with Bordeaux Begles
He said: “I’ve played against Dave Rennie’s sides in Super Rugby and as soon as I heard he and Glasgow were interested it was a no-brainer.”
