Council’s care deal creates jobs

-

Jobs have been created in Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and the Dunfermline area thanks to a care supplier’s deal with Fife Council.

Mears Care at Home Fife has announced a new contract with the local authority to expand its home care business in the region, which will help older people and those with disabilities to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

It is understood that four new positions have been created, although the company also aims to recruit a further six staff members to work flexible hours on shifts, with full-time, part-time and weekend working available.

Local manager Kayleigh Wilson said she was delighted to have secured the contract with the council, adding: “This might be ideal as work experience opportunities for students training in nursing.”

Mears is one of the leading suppliers of care at home in the UK, serving people across Scotland through a network of 20 local regional offices.

The company has traditionally provided care at home services in Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, but the firm also has a vacancy in Cowdenbeath.

Services include respite care, re-enablement care following an episode of illness, domiciliary care for day-to-day domestic and personal support, live-in 24 hour care as well as palliative care. Anyone wishing more information can call 01738 450426.
