The Scottish building company behind major developments on the outskirts of Dundee and Perth yesterday announced it expects to make a “significant” increase in sales and profits.

Springfield Properties is the developer behind the huge Dykes of Gray and Bertha Park developments in Tayside.

It is also planning a £29 million development in east Perthshire that will see more than 200 homes built in Rattray.

In a trading update, the Elgin-based firm said it expected to report a jump in pre-tax profits for the year to May 31 when it reports its results in September.

The firm said: “During the year, revenue grew in both the company’s private housing and affordable divisions, with private housing accounting for approximately 73% of total revenue.

“Springfield also progressed the development of existing sites, including receiving further planning consents as well as acquiring new sites.

“In particular, Springfield submitted a planning application for its 3,000home site at Durieshill, Stirling – which represented a key milestone as all of the village sites are now in the planning permission process, under construction or have commenced sales.” The firm announced a £20m deal for Glasgowbased housebuilder Dawn Homes in May. Springfield said the acquisition had added to the company’s private land bank and was in line with its strategy to expand into new regions.
