Funding helps the wheels go around at community event

-

A Tayport event which encourages families to take up cycling and helps youngsters refine their skills received a boost.

Cyclofun 2018 has been awarded funding through property management company Ross & Liddell’s community bursary scheme.

The annual event, on Saturday August 11, is organised by the Cupar, Howe of Fife, North Fife and St Andrews Rotary Clubs.

Martin Hepworth of North Fife Rotary said: “Cycling is a fantastic form of exercise and it’s an activity that anyone, of any age, can take part in.

“The annual event is focused on gathering keen cyclists together and having a fun trip starting at Tayport common.”

Children, along with their parents, can enjoy a five or eight-mile route through Tentsmuir Forest.

Set up in 2015, Cyclofun aims to encourage cyclists of any age, but especially children and families, to socialise and take part in more outdoor activities.

Last year almost 150 people took part in the event.

The routes start and finish at Tayport Common.

In addition to the cycling course, families can enjoy a range of activities at the Tayport gala.

Ross & Liddell’s bursary, in its seventh year, was launched to support organisations all over Scotland which make a vital difference in their community.

Cyclofun is one of 37 recipients this year.

Managing director Irene Devenny said: “It’s so important that events like Cyclofun have access to funding to encourage people of all ages to get outdoors and take part in fun and healthy activities.”
