Improvement works get under way at Dunfermline sports centre

-

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust will strive to minimise disruption as a sports centre undergoes improvement works.

Male and female private wetside showers at Carnegie Leisure Centre in Dunfermline are closed for six weeks for repairs.

A temporary changing area has been set up for dryside customers so they can access showers and private cubicles while the work on the wetside changing area takes place.

The upgrade includes work to the toilet and shower areas including walls, drainage channels and floor tiles.

For swim and health suite users, the foyer-linked toilets, communal showers and disability changing areas remain fully accessible, along with the three swimming pools, including the children’s pool.

The spa pool remains closed for refurbishment but other health suite areas are unaffected.

James Dunbar, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We have worked hard to deliver the best solution under the circumstances.

“We are providing customers with clear information on access and available changing facilities for both male and female users and staff are on hand to answer any queries. We appreciate the situation is challenging and we would like to thank customers for their continued support and patience.”

Meanwhile, a range of upgraded gym equipment has been unveiled at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.

The improvement is part of a £1.1 million investment to refit 11 gyms across the region. The kit was chosen following customer feedback and research on the most effective equipment.
