Wands signs on for 15th season

-

Fife Flyers’ favourite Chris Wands will spend a 15th season in the blue, white and gold after signing on for a 15th season with the Kirkcaldy side.

Wands originally joined the club back in the BNL and Northern League days and has been a part of the Flyers’ EIHL journey since they joined the league 2011/12.

The 30-year-old defenceman won Brit of the Year in 2016/17 and narrowly missed out on the award last year to fellow defenceman Tommy Muir.

Wands, who hails from Kirkcaldy, said: “The team looks to be shaping up nicely and I’m excited to get back on the ice with the returning and new players.

“It’s great to be back for another season with the club. After the success we had last year, it will be great to build on that this season and go after more silverware.

“This is a big year for the club as they celebrate their 80th anniversary and I am really pleased to be a part of the line-up.”

Assistant coach Jeff Hutchins added: “Wando has been steadily becoming more reliable year after year and we are going to look to him again to earn more minutes and provide depth on the backend.”

“He’s a pleasure to work with and continues to work hard, getting better each and every day. He works hard season after season, is reliable and well liked in the room.”
