Season gets under way with Qualifying League Cup ties

The East of Scotland set up kicks off this weekend and the early fixtures are dominated by cup competitio­ns.

The East of Scotland Qualifying League Cup is split into sections of four clubs and gets under way on Saturday.

Crossgates Primrose begin Section C at home to Linlithgow Rose while in Section F Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts face Hill of Beath Hawthorn.

Section G sees Dundonald Bluebell travel to Albyn Park to face Broxburn Athletic and in Section H Burntislan­d Shipyard travel to Dunipace.

Section I sees Jeanfield Swifts away to Bo’ness United and Leith Athletic host Oakley United. St Andrews United take on Tynecastle in Section J.

Next midweek, Crossgates travel to Penicuik Athletic, Hill of Beath host Bonnyrigg Rose and Dundonald Bluebell go to Newtongran­ge Star on the Tuesday.

On August 1 Inverkeith­ing travel to Stirling University EOS, Burntislan­d host Musselburg­h Athletic and Oakley United face Jeanfield.

The remaining group games are played on August 4.

The following weekend sees the Alex Jack Cup kick-off with Hill of Beath at home to Dunbar United, Dundonald Bluebell hosting Broxburn, Oakley United travelling to Penicuik, Jeanfield go to Heriot Watt Uni, St Andrews United welcome Musselburg­h Athletic, Inverkeith­ing travel to Edinburgh United and Crossgates Primrose entertain Eyemouth United.

League games in the three conference­s begin on Tuesday August 14.

The following Saturday sees the first round of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup and Jeanfield face a tough trip to East Kilbride. Crossgates Primrose face Bo’ness United away from home, Inverkeith­ing H S welcome Hawick Royal Albert, Oakley United are at home to Vale of Leithen and Hill of Beath take on Spartans at Keirs Park.

The South Challenge Cup begins on Saturday August 25 when St Andrews United take on Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale at Barnetts Park.
