Bollan not concerned over opponents Hearts’ issues

-

Cowdenbeath manager Gary Bollan is not interested in any penalty imposed on tonight’s hosts Hearts for fielding an ineligible player against Cove Rangers as he wants his team to finish above the Tynecastle men on their own merits.

A shock win for the Blue Brazil would put them four points clear of Craig Levein’s side regardless of any points deduction imposed for Andrew Irving’s substitute appearance last week.

Bollan said: “What happens with Hearts is none of our business and we will just concentrate on the job in hand. We can move clear of them in the table through our own steam and that would be a remarkable achievement.

“Two wins from our first three games is a good return for us. We are doing what we have to do to have a good season but we know that it will be a huge task to win.

“However it is possible for us to do so and finish second in the group. Whatever happens it is great for the club to be in this position after the lows of the past couple of years and being involved in the play-offs to survive as a senior club.

“We simply have to go out and enjoy the game. We are the first team to play on the new pitch there so that adds to the occasion as well.

“It is a great opportunity for our players to learn against players they have never played against before.

“The players we recruited during the summer have been helping on and off the park. Jason Talbot, David Marsh, Kris Renton and Martin Scott all have good experience and they are also making sure that the dressing room is a happy place.

“We are making progress but we know this could be a difficult night.”

Bollan has a fully fit and suspension free squad to choose from.
