Campbell target for Falkland stalwarts

-

Falkland skipper Stu Campbell is determined to lead his side to the league title – and dedicate the success to the club’s hard-working stalwarts.

Campbell and Co may have been knocked out of the British Village Cup but the quarter-final exit means they can devote all their attention to the championship – and in particular today’s tricky tussle with Strathmore at Lochside Park.

The captain said: “The Village Cup run was great and history was made for the club.

“The boys showed great character and performed very well.

“Each and every player who appeared in all the rounds was a credit to the club.

“The work done behind the scenes by Robbie Nellies, Paul Watson, Ryan Hepburn and Graeme Watson must be showcased, along with all the volunteers who give their time up for the club.

“We now refocus and go again. “We are top of the table and have five league games left with everything to play for. The lads have trained well this week and again we have a good mix of experience and youth in the team as we also build to the future.”

This afternoon’s programme features local derbies.

The second stringers of Arbroath and Forfarshire meet at Lochlands, while second-place Stoneywood-Dyce welcome Mannofield.

Dundee HSFPs aim to make home advantage count against Meigle, while Perth Doocot entertain Aberdeen outfit Gordonians.
