Perthshire bra firm to launch retail space in larger premises
Molke is also looking to double its number of machinists
Perthshire bra company Molke is preparing to move into larger premises as it plans to open a retail shop.
The underwear firm was set up by Kirsty Lunn and Ros Marshall in a spare room in Kirsty’s house in Rattray and sells around 500 bras a month from its unit at Perth Airport at Scone.
The founders are now planning to move their operation to a site four times the size on the outskirts of the airport which will include a shop, changing rooms and the manufacturing operation.
They are also looking to grow their team of machinists from three to six over the coming months.
Molke’s colourful bras are breastfeeding friendly and cover sizes 26 to 46 and up to cup size P.
The company launched a year ago with an oversubscribed crowdfunding campaign and has grown rapidly.
Kirsty said: “Demand for the product is more than ever – we’ve just had our best ever month for takings. We barely have any stock and are looking to add more machinists to the team.
“We have significant overseas sales – last week we sent bras to South Korea and Israel. North America is our largest overseas customer base.
“At the moment we are selling around 500 bras a month. We are hoping that with another three machinists we can triple production. There is a real shortage of machinists and we would be willing to train the right people.
“We are also looking to add a member of admin staff to the team as well.
“Our new site is being fitted out at the moment and will give us more space to grow as well as providing a retail space. It means customers will be able to be fitted for a bra.”
