Sanchez scores as Red Devils win first pre-season friendly in the US

-

Alexis Sanchez had a goal and an assist as Manchester United won their first pre-season friendly in 90 minutes with a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants were cut down to size early on when Matteo Darmian cut back a cross into the Madrid box for Sanchez to steer home past Kiko Casilla.

Jose Mourinho’s side doubled up nine minutes later when Sanchez turned provider.

Juan Mata delivered a cross into the box, with Sanchez cleverly heading the ball into the path of Ander Herrera on 27 minutes.

Madrid got one back just before the break through Karim Benzema, who latched on to a probing cross by Theo Hernandez.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou got his second goal in as many International Champions Cup games as Tottenham beat AC Milan 1-0 in Minneapolis.

After a quiet first half at the US Bank Stadium, the 23-year-old winger broke the deadlock on 47 minutes when he fired past Antonio Donnarumma.

Marco Silva has made his second Everton signing with the capture of left-back Lucas Digne from Barcelona.

The 25-year-old has committed to a five-year deal at Goodison Park and follows Richarlison, who made the move from Silva’s former club Watford last month.

Digne has an impressive CV having begun his career at Lille before moving on to Paris St Germain, Roma and then Barcelona, for whom he made 46 appearances in two seasons.

Sheffield United have signed Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn on a season-long loan deal.

Woodburn, who became the Reds’ youngest goalscorer when he netted in an EFL Cup win against Leeds aged 17 in November 2016, has made 11 appearances for the club and also played seven times and scored one goal for Wales.
