Man smashed victim’s head through window during brawl

-

A Buckhaven man is facing a prison sentence after smashing his victim’s head through a glass window during an alcoholfuelled brawl.

John Keillor appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court where he admitted one charge of assault to severe injury.

The 27-year-old had been at a gathering in Lawrence Court on October 6 when he became involved in an argument with other party-goers.

Keillor left the property and walked into the communal stairwell but was followed by his victim Adilson Hernandez.

The court was told that the accused then suddenly launched himself towards Mr Hernandez and seized him by the body.

He then pushed his head against a glass window with such force that his head went through the glass panel and broke it.

An ambulance was called and Mr Hernandez was taken to hospital with what was described as a serious “laceration” to the back of his head.

He required three stitches and four staples to close the wound and the court heard that Mr Hernandez has been left with a permanent scar.

Keillor later handed himself into the police and was subsequently charged in connection with the incident.

Defence solicitor David McLaughlin told the court his client had managed to keep relatively out of trouble following the birth of his two children.

But he said that he was “well aware” he could be sent to prison for the Buckhaven attack.

Keillor, whose address was given as Factory Road, was released on bail by Sheriff James Williamson.

He is expected to be sentenced on September 7.
