There is only one place to be in the North East this Sunday – and that’s Ashbrook Nursery!

The family-run business in Arbroath has built up a great reputation for supplying flowers, bedding plants, trees, shrubs and planters and now it is to host a Summer Fun Day.

The main aim of the event on Sunday 5th August is to raise funds for Arbroath’s Friends of Keptie Pond and Springfield Rose Garden. For those who don’t know, local community groups are working hard to restore and maintain these valuable facilities.

During the four-hour fun day (which runs from 12-4pm), there will be plenty happening, including craft stalls, a second hand book sale, and live music from TSO Wind, The Inchape Ceilidh Band and musician Katie playing her clarsach (Celtic harp).

For food fans, there will be a pop-up café and delicious authentic wood-fired pizzas from Fallone’s in Monifieth. Sacred Grounds Coffee Company will also be there providing its artisan coffees to visitors. Chainsaw sculptor Grant Adam will be amazing the crowds with his talents with timber, as he sculpts throughout the afternoon while floral artists will be demonstrating their skills.

For the kids, as well as craft activities, there will be lambs and a calf to see.

Local businesses have supported the fundraising effort by providing some great prizes for the raffle – buy your tickets at the event and you could win one of many exciting prizes including a football signed by the Arbroath FC team.

The event wouldn’t be complete without a Gardeners’ Question Time, so budding gardeners are invited along to quiz a panel of ‘grow your own’ experts between 1-2pm. And if you fancy trying your hand at creating your own handtied bouquet of flowers, then look out for workshops between 2-4pm at Ashbrook.

For those who need transport to the event, there is a FREE bus service running out to the nursery from Springfield and Keptie Pond (on the hour at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm) – just look out for the blue and orange ‘Berry Bus’ and hop aboard!

The Fun Day at Ashbrook also marks the start of the nursery’s Summer Sale, so look out for discounts throughout the store and take advantage of the bargains. And remember, any goods purchased on the day can be delivered, free of charge, to Arbroath and local areas.
