Ever since the British troops came to this country they have done their best to keep the enemy in a state of lively anticipation. Nearly 200 aggressive gulls and chicks have been shot as part of a Dundee City Council cull to protect the public. Lord Provost Ian Borthwick, who has called for a measured solution to tackle the gull menace, said he felt satisfied with how the local authority was handling the problem. Gulls are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act but provisions can be made to exterminate the birds if they are considered a danger to the public. Four hundred eggs have also been removed from nests.
