Christine Galloway to be reported to procurator fiscal

The owner of a Fife motorhomes firm which went into liquidation has been charged following a fraud probe.

Christine Galloway, of Cupar, is to be reported to the procurator fiscal amid allegations of financial irregularity. She was director of St Andrews Motorhomes which closed in June, allegedly owing an estimated 60 motorhome owners around £800,000.

Liquidator Claire Middlebrook was appointed last month to wind up the company near Cupar.

Police Scotland confirmed they had charged a 63-year-old woman following what was termed a significant fraud investigation in Fife.

A spokesperson said: “Officers received reports of financial irregularities at a motorhome business in the Cupar area. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Clients of St Andrews Motorhomes told The Courier that they had entered brokerage deals allowing the company to sell their motorhomes on their behalf.

Some said they were told that their vehicles, worth upwards of £20,000, had been sold but that they had not been paid.

There was dismay when customers said they were unable to contact her or her staff on the phone and the showroom, on the B940 to Pitscottie, closed suddenly.

The firm had traded for around 25 years.
