Put your faith in Reverend Jacobs to strike

Four-year-old can follow up Friday win to make it a quickfire double

- THE FERRET

REVEREND JACOBS can make it a quickfire double in the tiesplanet.com – Ladies Love Guys In Ties Handicap at Pontefract.

The four-year-old hit the mark at Newmarket last Friday and the fact William Haggas feels compelled to turn out under a 6lb penalty possibly speaks volumes about his chances.

Lining up in a competitive heat at headquarters, Reverend Jacobs easily shook off his rivals to win by the best part of three lengths in a course-record time.

The handicapper is sure to take a dim view of that victory, so it makes sense to strike quickly with conditions in his favour.

Foxtrot Knight has been running consistently well of late and should be worth a shout in the Chaplins Club Handicap.

That he has won one of 11 starts so far this term is obviously not overly encouraging, but he has been in the mix on nine of those outings.

He has dropped back down the weights a little now and a mark of 73 might not be beyond him, in a race trainer Ruth Carr will be keen to win, with Chaplins Club having been trained by her late grandfather, David Chapman.

RARE boasts quite the pedigree as a Galileo half-sister to Blue Bunting, so connections are surely keen to get her head in front at Kempton to enhance her paddock prospects. She ran with plenty of credit to be edged out on her racecourse bow, being beaten just a neck after striking for home with a couple of furlongs to run.

Sir Michael Stoute appears to have found a nice opportunity for her in the 32Red Fillies’ Novice Stakes and she should be followed.

SHIP OF THE FEN disappointed at Goodwood on his most recent effort but he should not be deserted as he returns from a break in the 2Red Casino Handicap.
