Gala in days gone by

-

“Annual village gala days are upon us again,” writes Frank Zwolinski of Gauldry. “The photograph on the left shows dressed and decorated floats at Abernethy Gala Day around 1963.

“The tractor-drawn float depicts the ringside where you’ll see ‘Frankie the Yankee’ versus ‘Tiny the Terrible’.

“From left to right is Stanley Duck (seated), Ned West, David Smith, Alex Greigh (behind), Charles West, Johnny Boag, Alex Miller and Frank Zwolinski.

“Just behind that float you can see ‘Ye Old Gala Day Goes Live’.”
