Light Blues net £3.5m

-

Rangers have banked around £3.5 million after allowing Josh Windass and Declan John to complete deadline day exits.

Attacker Windass has joined Wigan for a fee of around £2.5m that could rise in future should addon clauses be triggered.

Meanwhile, Wales international full-back John has returned to his homeland to sign for Swansea as part of a deal that could eventually tally up to £1m.

It represents a tidy profit for the Light Blues, who signed Windass for just £60,000 from Accrington in 2016, while John cost a similarly small fee when he made his loan stint from Cardiff permanent just seven months ago.

Windass made three starts under new Gers boss Gerrard but he has been allowed to move on following the emergence of youngster Glenn Middleton and the loan arrival of Liverpool’s Ryan Kent, while John has dropped down the pecking order since the arrival of Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic.
