FIRES

Fire crews tackled a fire in the derelict Inverkeith­ing Primary School yesterday morning.

The fire was in the ground floor of the building which has lain empty for some time.

They quickly extinguish­ed the blaze and cut away affected timbers, using a fan to disperse the smoke.

Early yesterday evening crews were called out to a fire in a metal freight container in Pittencrie­ff Park, Dunfermlin­e.

BRASS BAND

Cupar beginners’ brass band will meet from 6.30pm to 8pm this Wednesday in St John’s Church Hall, Cupar. All are welcome.

CLIMATE WORKSHOP

Fife communitie­s climate action network workshop, to discuss Fife Council’s strategy on climate action, will run from 6pm to 9pm this Thursday in St John’s Church Hall, Cupar.

Townhill Community Council’s next meeting starts at 7pm this Thursday in the community centre.

CONCERT

A benefit evening for Alrowwad cultural centre on Palestine’s West Bank will be staged in Peel House, Aberdour, from 7.30pm this Friday .

It will feature New York singer and songwriter Steffani Bennett and musicians Paul Murray and Colin Mackenzie with readings by Robin Sneller.

COFFEE MORNING

St John’s and Dairsie United Church’s coffee morning will run from 9.45am on Saturday August 18 in the Corn Exchange in Cupar.

LADYBANK

The next meeting of Ladybank and District Community Council will be held this Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Laird’s Waiting Room, Ladybank Rail Station.
