Shipyard progress to set up Girvan tie

Burntislan­d Shipyard will have enjoyed their long trip back from the Highlands after they won 4-1 at Golspie Sutherland in the William Hill Scottish Cup first preliminar­y round.

Jordan Galloway put Shippy in front on 30 minutes and Rab Kinnaird made it 2-0 on 39 minutes.

Galloway then scored his second and his side’s third on the stroke of half-time before Reece Brown made it 4-0 on 72 minutes.

Golspie managed to pull a goal back late on but the Fife side go on to face a trip to Ayrshire to face Girvan in the next round.

Hill of Beath are through to round two of the Alex Jack Cup following a 3-1 win over Dunbar United at Keirs Park.

Daniel Watt put Haws in front on 17 minutes but a second didn’ t come until 81 minutes, scored by Joe Kirby.

The visitors pulled one back a minute later through Grant Thomson but Callum Adamson put paid to any chance of a comeback with a third for Kevin Fotheringh­am’s side in stoppage time.

Dundonald suffered another defeat to Broxburn Athletic, this time at home.

Zander Miller put the visitors in front after just six minutes but Bluebell were level just four minutes later. Miller hit his second and Conor Kelly made it 3-1 on 38 minutes.

Scott Nimmo scored Broxburn’s fourth on 77 minutes. Bluebell pulled one back on 82 but Miller completed his hat-trick with five minutes to go.

Oakley led 2-0 after 10 minutes at Penicuik Athletic but eventually went down 4-2 as Aaron Somerville scored a hattrick for the home side with the fourth coming from Wayne McIntosh.

Jeanfield Swifts progress after a 3-1 win at Heriot-Watt University. Connor McLaren scored twice for the Perth side with Chris Dodd getting the third.

All the goals came in the first 18 minutes at Barnetts Park as St Andrews United went down 2-1 to Musselburg­h Athletic.

Mathu King put the visitors in front on eight minutes but Jack Wilson equalised six minutes later. King scored what proved to be the winner four minutes later in what was an entertaini­ng encounter.

Crossgates romped to a 9-2 win over Eyemouth United. Andy Watt and Scott Lawrie scored four each with Dale Allan netting the other.

The game between Edinburgh United and Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts was abandoned after just 14 minutes due to a serious injury to Swifts’ Calum Strang, who had put his side in front.

Kelty Hearts Lowland League game with Selkirk was postponed as the Borders side continue to struggle to field a team.
