Group bolsters Fife workforce after property contract award
PRESERVATION: Three-year council deal sees Richardson & Starling increase their presence and influence in region
A major property maintenance group has moved to bolster its workforce in Fife after winning a new contract with the local authority.
Richardson & Starling – which is part of Veitchi Group and which has been providing property services since 1935 – has taken on new office space and increased its workforce in the region to 25 after securing the renewal of a multiyear contract with Fife Council.
The move will see the firm – which specialises in issues such as dry and wet rot, woodworm, timber care, waterproofing and larger structural works – carry out preservation works to social housing and public buildings in the region over the next three years.
The Cambuslang-based group had an existing operations base at the Mitchelston Industrial Estate in Kirkcaldy, but has now purchased a neighbouring unit to provide extra office space for its enlarged team.
A total of six new jobs are being added as a result of the contract renewal, with the firm also operating a fleet of 11 vehicles across the region.
“As part of our commitment to the region and to this contract we have invested heavily in additional premises whilst also extensively refurbishing our existing office,” managing director Graham Duncan said.
“We now have 2,000sq ft of office space and have recruited one new property surveyor, an administrator and four new technicians.”
The Fife move comes a week after the group revealed it was adding a new office in Inverness, a move that created a further seven jobs. The group has a total of 13 offices across Scotland, including outlets in Dundee and Perth.
