Work starts on new McDonald’s

-

Work on a new McDonald’s restaurant has begun in Leven.

The restaurant and drivethru at Riverside Retail Park was given planning consent earlier this year and is expected to create around 80 jobs. It should open in December.

Labour councillor Altany Craik, convener of Fife’s economy, tourism and strategic planning committee, said: “Anything that gives another opportunity for employment, particularly for young people, has to be a good thing for the town. New investment for mid-Fife is always welcome and I am pleased to support this.”

Levenmouth area committee convener, SNP councillor Ken Caldwell, added: “We are working with McDonald’s to help ensure that this restaurant opens as soon as possible.

“It is fantastic for Leven and Levenmouth to have another international company located in the area.

“This will bring more, muchneeded jobs to Levenmouth.”

Mr Caldwell said the work complemented recent investments at the Shorehead and other improvements being developed along the Promenade.

“Fife Council have worked very hard over a long period of time to make sure this proposal has gone ahead,” he said.

“It’s one more step to ensuring that Leven becomes a place where people stop and not just drive past.”

A McDonald’s spokesman said the firm was delighted to be expanding in Fife.
